Description:
China is a country without firm religious belief. People are striving for more wealth. People talking about investment, stocks, real estate market and new-launched cars can be seen almost everywhere. They all neglect the importance of spirit.
At the Yimin River Town, a remote town in Inner Mongolia Province, there was a Christian Church under construction, which was quite a strange thing to people there. One decade ago, it was forbidden to believe in Christianity. Among the 30,000 people living in the town, there were about 1000 Christians.
The documentary was shot between May to November, 2006 and all the editing work was done in 2008. It is a witness to the process of construction and the difficulties encountered. For instance, Bai Xiuying, who was in charge of the church, devoted all her time and strength to the construction of the church. However, she still met criticism.
The documentary also manifests the challenges of the living environment, such as the deterioration of environment, droughts and water shortage, faced by local people.
In this era with no religious belief, the construction of church is a symbol of people's yearning for faith. The documentary functions as a witness to that.
